UK Computing Plus Task Force

Purpose of the Task Force

To establish, manage, and report upon the 'UK Computing Plus' pilot project on behalf of the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group.

Terms of reference

1. To recommend to the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group the length and scope of the 'UK Computing Plus' pilot.

2. To identify, agree, and document the contribution to be made by a) each pilot site and b) any other institution, organisation, or individual whose contribution is required for the success of the project.

3. To manage the project on behalf of the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group including identifying project phases and establishing timescales/milestones for the project.

4. To recommend to the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group how the trial will operate and how referrals to pilot sites from other members of UK Libraries Plus should be handled.

5. To facilitate exchange of experience between pilot sites and to disseminate progress regarding the pilot more widely to the Heads of Service and Representatives of UK Libraries Plus institutions.

6. To recommend to the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group whether the trial should be expanded to other pilot sites. To consider applications to become pilot sites and to make recommendations to the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group.

7. To identify key stakeholders with an interest in the project (eg SCONUL, UCISA, JISC, CHEST). To keep key stakeholders informed about the project, and to work with them in identifying how the 'UK Computing Plus' project (or, if applicable, a subsequent 'UK Computing Plus' scheme) can be sustained and extended to cover as broad a range of HE institutions as possible.

8. To establish success criteria for the project and evaluate the outcomes of the project against these criteria.

9. To provide progress reports for the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group on the project. If applicable, to make recommendations to the UK Libraries Plus Steering Group on how a 'UK Computing Plus' scheme could operate based upon the experience of the pilot.

10. To produce a final report of the project and to disseminate its findings. Assuming that the pilot is successful, the final report will provide advice to institutions wishing to be involved in a UK Computing Plus scheme on how they can address the technical issues associated with participation.
