UK Computing Plus Pilot Scheme Participants

Birmingham University
Visitors to the Main Library and major site libraries are able to request access to most electronic journals, and selected electronic resources (where licensing arrangements permit). It is not possible to surf the internet or use email. Access to printing facilities is not provided.

University of Bolton

We provide access to selected electronic information resources (licences permitting), use of your personal Athens or AthensDA account and printing at a cost of 5p per page. You are required to sign a copyright acknowledgement form in addition to your UKLP application form in order to receive a username and password.

De Montfort University
We will provide access to the Internet, licensed software applications and some electronic information resources (licenses permitting) via networked PCs. You will be asked to complete an additional application form and sign a declaration of use.

You will have access to the Internet only via dedicated PCs and will be able to use a sub-set of Durham's online resources.

University of Hertfordshire
You will have access to the Internet, MS Word, use of your personal Athens account and some digital library resources (where UH licenses permit) via any networked PC in our Learning Resources Centre, using temporary daily password available from the Helpdesk.

Kingston University
You will have access to the Internet, use of your personal Athens account as well as Microsoft applications via any networked PC in our LRCs, using a temporary daily password available from our Reception or Enquiry Desks. Leeds Metropolitan University
We will provide you with a temporary one-day account that gives full access to any networked PC in our Library. However we will ask you to sign a declaration whereby you agree to use only those software packages and electronic information resources listed as being licenced for use by visitors.

London School of Economics & Political Science

At LSE, UK Computing Plus has been superseded by JANET Roaming, which allows users visiting participating Higher Education institutions in the UK to access network resources using the logon credentials from their own institution.

Open University
Anyone may use the public access computers in the library at Walton Hall, Milton Keynes. Users can access the internet and use Microsoft Office applications after initial registration and subject to "The Open University Computing Code of Conduct" which is displayed next to the public access computers.

Roehampton University

Trinity College Carmarthen

Any student who joins Trinity College Library as a UK Libraries Plus student is eligible to use computer facilities in the Library or Teaching Resource Centre.

Access is provided to all general computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer) and all electronic resources which are available without an Athens password. Students will be able to use the personal Athens passwords provided by their own institutions to access electronic resources from that institution. Printing facilities are also provided at a small charge.

University of Sunderland
You will have access to the Internet and certain Office 2000 applications using a guest logon available from the library helpdesk. You will also have the ability to use Athens authenticated databases if you are in possession of an account from your home institution.

University of Surrey
All external visitors may now use a selection of online databases and electronic journals via dedicated PCs in the Library building. Please note that visitors will need to show photo ID and complete a registration form before using the service. Printing is not currently available to visitors. University of Wales Swansea
You can use a restricted range of websites without any need for a computer account. These include all sites within the .ac.uk and .edu domains. In addition we can provide you with a temporary network account which will allow you access to a wider range of software applications, including Microsoft Office 2000.

University of Wolverhampton

You can use dedicated visitor-access PCs at our Learning Centres in Telford, Walsall and Woverhampton. We provide access to the Internet and a selection of online electronic databases as well as Office 2000 software. Guides to the visitor facilities are available at www.wlv.ac.uk/lib/visitors

Please not that ID and registration is required and there are currently no printing facilities for visitors.
